Bio's

Kathryn Fox

Born and raised in Whistler, Kathryn never really took to throwing herself down mountains, preferring the backyard pool instead. After swimming competitively as a child she went on to become a lifeguard/instructor at Brennan Park, and now enjoys workouts with the Squamish Titans’ masters. In summer, you’ll find Kathryn running the local trails, swimming in the local lakes and in the ocean, and pedaling around town on either her road or mountain bike. When not training “Fox”, as she is known to her friends, can often be found at the local coffee shop in Brackendale, where she and her training buddies get into all kinds of caffeine and adrenaline-fuelled mischief. Though she has the travel bug and loves to explore the world, Kathryn loves Squamish and feels lucky to call it home.

Vicki Haberl

Growing up in Ontario with the privilege of a lake-front summer cottage, lake swimming has been in Vicki’s blood since Day One. Cycling and running don’t come quite as naturally, but enough to get by as a participant in the annual Squamish Triathlon. She likes to balance out those cardio sports with as much yoga as she can fit into the week, and cross-country skiing is a favourite winter pastime. Tennis was the sport of choice in her youth, but she doesn’t have a Squamish tennis partner - tennis anyone?

Sara Hamilton

Sara's triathlon career began back in the 90's with a couple of tri's. She then spent a decade or so contemplating those early races before diving in again in Squamish. More recently, you’ll find her road riding, cross country skiing, SUPing, kayaking and avoiding swimming at all costs.

Tim Moore

Tim has a carpe diem approach to sport. As a kid, it was hockey or tennis or baseball, depending on the season. He never swam, ran or cycled competitively until more recently. An unrepentant milk chocolate chocoholic, he hadn’t discovered nutella until even more recently and he’s made a concerted effort to catch up. Tim’s had the opportunity to race around the world in Malaysia, New Zealand, Germany, the Netherlands and places in between. He’s had some superb training and racing days, and some challenging ones too.

Susanne Pelly

Susanne spent her youth in the pool, both as a competitive swimmer and a synchronized one. A life-long love of the outdoors led her to Squamish where she took up running in 2003 after attending a Sun Run clinic. Cycling followed soon after, as well as a few triathlons. With the opening of Whistler Olympic Park, Susanne has now added cross country skiing to her list of favourite sports. Susanne and her training buddies love running the trails in Squamish while chanting “we love hills” to fool themselves into believing it doesn’t really hurt that much.

Rich Rawling

Rich "Easily Distracted" Rawling usually tries to fit five or six different sports into his week. Realizing the injury-prevention, general-conditioning, and emotional values of cross-training, he maintains a variable schedule of running, mountain and road biking, swimming, xc and backcountry skiing, stand-up paddleboarding and yoga. Once a dedicated ultramarathoner, xc ski racer, and xc ski coach, Rich now joins his Squamish homies for whatever local event happens to be on tap, whether it be the Squamish Tri, ski loppet at Whistler Olympic Park, adventure race, or an organized trail run.

Graham Schulz

Until Graham (G-Man) moved to Squamish in 2003, all he ever did in the competitive world of sport was run – a lot. When he arrived to town he bought a mountain bike (because that’s what you do when you move to Squamish), a roadie, and then a tri bike to complete the trilogy of cycling. He joined the Titans, learned to swim, and then started competing in triathlons. With a new passion for this awesome excuse to cross-train and race, Graham then expanded his athletic repertoire to include adventure racing, kayaking, and now cross-country skiing. Graham has been on the Squamish Titans Executive since 2006 and has been the club President since 2007. He has also been the Community Relations Director for the Squamish Triathlon since 2006.

Roger Shirt

Roger has been running since a summer job in 1986 up in northern BC forced him to find something to do that was more interesting than watching TV. Since then he has competed in numerous running races from 5kms to ultramarathons, but really loves being on Squamish’s trails. As a member of the UBC cross-country team he was fortunate to run with (well, behind really) some of the top runners in Canada. Roger has completed two triathlons and is determined to re-find his love for swimming so he can do the Squamish Triathlon in 2011. (Roger is the Titans running guru, coordinating the highly successful and inaugural 5km – not a race, necessarily – series.)

Heather Sidsworth

In school, I did track, gymnastics, swimming, climbing trees, then became a working couch potato for 30 years. I started my first triathlon as a swimmer in Bob Mc 2001, then started running farther than a sprint and in 2002 I completed the entire triathlon. Then I went to swim meets, then did some more running, Sun runs, more triathlons, even an international one, trail runs, mountain biking, road biking, snowshoeing, hiking, found photography and I’m still climbing trees. I may be slow, but I always get there. (Heather won her age group at the UBC triathlon in March 2011 and is preparing to race her first half marathon this season.)

We would also like to extend a sincere and Titanic THANK YOU to our outgoing Executive members, Helle Wilburn and Volker Schneider. They have both made a significant contribution to the Club and we appreciate all their efforts over the years.
